AnimationIt's a bit raw and being worked on still, but we got a Chaotica animation done
Check it out: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B0-cWK7715BlLXBnVHA2OXpBX1k/edit?usp=sharing
It's based on a modulus tile I made a while ago *shameless self promotion*
Big thanks for *lyc for making it possible and rendering it, and to ~pillemaster for teaching me how to modulus

You'll need to have the Qt libraries present on your system for these to work.
Please let me know how these builds work for you!
chaotica 0.43 (finally) releasedAfter a long silence, I've finally fixed the bug which was preventing the release of chaotica 0.43!
You can get the latest version from the links in the chaotica 0.43 deviation here: http://lyc.deviantart.com/art/chaotica-0-4-213481638
This release is extremely important because it fixes the built-in pre_blur variation, which is absolutely crucial. Bipolar was also broken, and in order to get the release out quickly I've made it work via plugin DLL only again - sorry for the inconvenience here.
There are a ton of changes under the hood, most of which aren't exposed yet, however the beginnings of an extremely powerful next-generation IFS fractal editor are in place now (note the inclusion of QT OpenGL libraries in this new release). More than half the code in 0.42 was modified in 0.43, which is what caused the long delay - finding the bug was a lot more difficult than it should have been with all those changes piled up at once, and believe me, I've learnt my lesson from this! chaotica 0.21 for mac os xa first mac build is available from http://www.indigorenderer.com/dist/beta/chaotica.dmg (windows version 0.21: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3038174/chaotica_0.21_win_x86.zip)
it was built using remote shell access (no display), and is completely untested!
some known issues (also applicable to windows 0.21 build):
1. linear3D doesn't work, all instances of it should be replaced with "linear", and in general -
2. no dll plugin support (when one isn't implemented natively, it crashes...)
3. some combinations of zoom/scale aren't correctly handled, if possible paste the params into a different apophysis version (eg. 2.06 3d hack) and then save again.
4. image updating (especially in the beginning) is slow and makes the program unresponsive.
the upcoming 0.3 release will support dll plugins (on 32bit windows) and a few more native variations, run much faster and produce higher quality images. the linear3D fix won't be necessary, image updating won't block the user interface, and ther

written by `miontre for Community Week in %projecteducate.
Quite simply, the way you present yourself is important. People make decisions about other people based on the way they present themselves. You know this is true because you do it yourself. There is no shame in this, because it's natural human behavior: we simply do not have the time to make decisions about each and every person we encounter from scratch, so we have to make some decisions based on how they present themselves. One such judgments made in this way is how worthwhile a person is - through this, we don't learn about a personality, but rather how long we are going to hold interest in this person.
If there's one thing which makes me uninterested in a person's profile, resulting in my immediate departure, it's when there's too much junk and mess on there - a result of careless presentation. :l

PE: Creating art on CommissionPE: Creating art on Commission
At some point in your career as an artist, you'll be asked to create artwork on commission. Whilst it's a wonderful feeling, being able to make money creating art, it's completely different than selling a personal piece you previously completed - accepting a commission means entering a temporary relationship with your client. As simple it may sounds, there's a lot to satisfying customer's needs, sometimes the best you can do is to say no. Being picky regarding which commission you accept is not a bad thing, but try not to automatically turn down commission because it seems to be violating your artistic integrity, it's hard to survive without paid jobs.
✐ 1. Communication and flexibility
This is the key aspect to being able to work on commissio

PE: Contrast in Digital ArtThis article aims to introduce different kinds of ‘contrast’ in digital art, although most of the following points can also be applied to other media as well.
(noun) - Contrast is a principle of art. When defining it, art experts refer to the arrangement of opposite elements (light vs. dark colors, rough vs. smooth textures, large vs. small shapes, etc.) in a piece so as to create visual interest, excitement and drama.
1. Colours and Brightness
One of the first things to come to mind when we think of ‘contrast’ are colours contrasting with each other.
(The colours labelled as 'primary' are the primary colours in the RGB colour model. Primary colours of the CMYK colour model are cyan, magenta and yellow.)
